What is the impact of Polynesian culture on Hawaiian customs?

Polynesian influences influenced Hawaiian culture deeply because Hawaii is a province of the Polynesian triangle in the Pacific. Language, dance (hula), music and traditions are all Polynesian cultural aspects of Hawaii. Navigating, tattooing and storytelling were shared across the Polynesian islands, then exported to Hawaii to define the nation. Hawaiian practices (traditional tools, ritual ceremony, etc) also have broader Polynesian antecedents, with adaptations that pay homage to Hawaii’s particular cultural heritage.
